What are you reading right now??

This article isn’t the usual one. Its about book review.
To start with I love reading. I fee reading is one of the best things that has happened to mankind..

I love reading … I simply loveeeeeeeeeeee it!!

I don’t remember when I started reading first, but I am glad I did. I love books, happy endings bring a smile to my face, i feel like a detective while reading a thriller and on and on. I love the experience books  give you, the waay they engage you in themselves, the way they make you travel with the story… it’s such a different experience all together. They build patience in you. Well there are so many things to list, but lets continue it some other time.

Coming back to the review,
So right now I am reading “FALL OF GIANTS” by “KEN FOLLET”.
I have completed reading more than one third of the book, I know not a good number but I couldn’t wait to share my experience. And anyways I don’t want to complete the book and then write the review and put spoiler alerts! Here and there!

Well this book is the first book of the trilogy by KEN FOLLET.  It is followed by “WINTER OF THE WORLD” and the third book provisionally titled “EDGE OF ETERNITY” will be published in late 2014.

It is a historic novel based on five families who are brought together through the world-shaking dramas of the First World War, the Russian Revolution and the struggle for votes for women. This book is a solid from the first page.

This book is an immediate read; I mean I could wait at least. Though the size of the book might take you back a bit but believe me you will find it worth it at the end. The period encompasses First World War. The upper class weren’t shy about then being higher in the class and liked showing it off. Also the lower class was shown their place.

There are a lot of characters in the book. So many that he actually provides an index to list them. The characters are clearly described when are where encountered and they are so memorable that it’s easy to keep them straight.

So overall the story is intriguing and complex but a pure pleasure!!!

Happy Reading...!!

Exfoliating homemade scrub (easiest)

We need to exfoliate the skin often. Due to pollution, improper eating habits and lifestyle out skin grows old faster. If you look in the mirror and feel your skin patchy, dry, flaky then you need to scrub out the dead skin and bring out the new skin underneath it.

Today I will be sharing a homemade scrub which can be made in less than 5 minutes and has really promising effect. Moreover you can use it every alternate day if you want.

Ingredients:

3 tablespoon raw oats (not the processed ones with added flavors and all)
Water/honey/curd – oily skin
Milk – dry skin
Rose water - combination skin
A pinch of salt.

Procedure:

1.      Grind the oatmeal in a mixer grinder. Make sure you don’t grind it to fine powder. Keep it at a considerable granular level
2.      Add a liquid from above which ever suits your skin type.
3.      Let it soak for 2-3 minutes.
4.      Add pinch of salt
Now use this scrub as a natural scrub on your face. Use it for 2-4 minutes It is totally safe to use it. If you have acnes or troubled skin you can skip the salt ingredient.
Even then, if you are skeptical to use it, use it as a body scrub for once and then see the difference.

Pros:

·        This scrub removes all the dead skin cells and makes the skin soft

·        Makes the skin clear

·        Removes tan to a certain extent if used regularly.

·        Cheapest exfoliator. :P

·        Moisturizes the skin

·        No side effects - as it doesn’t contain any chemicals

·        You can customize it – for aroma therapy (by adding some fragrances)

Cons:

·        I don’t see any, unless you are too lazy to make this.

Nivea Fruity Shine Lip Balm in Cherry

Here I will be reviewing the cherry variant of the Nivea Fruity Shine Lip Balm collection.  This collection has 4 other variants, reviews coming soon..

It comes in an attractive stick form. The packaging doesn’t look cheap and is travel friendly.

What does the package say?
Nivea Fruity Shine Cherry (New Shape).
Discover a delicious cherry scent and fabulous red shimmer. Fruit extracts and
shimmering pigments. Moisture store formula. SPF 10.

Price: 129/- INR for 4.8 g.

This variant comes in a really glossy red color. When applied it gives a slight cherryish smell. The smell doesn’t last long though, so no worries for the sensitive nose beauties.

The balm is not highly tinted but if you swipe for 2-3 times it gives a nice sheer to the lips. It’s kind of rosy in color. I personally feel that if you have high pigmented lips and use lip balm to cover them this isn’t for you.

It gives a gloss effect if applied too much. The stick doesn’t get messy nor does it melt.
It’s very handy and easy to apply. It makes the lips smooth and the staying power is 2-3 hours.

Pros :
·        Good smell
·        Moisturizes lips
·        Slightly tinted
·        2-3 hours staying power
·        Affordable

Cons :
·        Pigmented lips won’t be covered.
·        Smell doesn’t last long.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Well finally I have watched the most talked about Hindi movie of the month.Special thanks to my friend Priyanka. ;)  I know the movie has released long back and the reviews are out and bla blah… ! But what the heck, this is my review about the movie.

Cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur, Kalki Koechlin
Direction: Ayan Mukerji
Genre: Romance
Duration: 2 hours 41 minutes

Some dialogues did skip my heartbeats. Like...
“Tum jaise ladki flirting ke liye nahi, ishq ke liye bani hain”
“Tum galat nahi ho, bus alag ho”
Wah!!

Some are too chessy…!! Well I cannot list them here, coz I have flushed them out of my mind there itself.

It is a very good-looking film. I mean with all those popular faces around, the blushes, the lavish wedding, those designer garments do provide a treat to the eyes… for both guys and gals. (if you know what I mean)

The movie is shot at really scenic locations. Some sequences in the beginning are really funny, be in a teenager way but I found them funny.
The first half of the movie is childish and the next half mature.

Selling points  :
Ranbir and Deepika coming back together on screen + onscreen kiss
Huge starcast
Good music
Ofcourse a Romantic movie

Music :
The music of the movie is awesome and addictive. But I felt somewhere that it was too much.
I mean the songs were inserted out of nowhere when the story was actually going somewhere.
And where a narrative song was needed we kept hoping for one.

Overall the story is quite predictable. The movie has a energy up-tone to it which can definitely give a small rise to the mood. The bottom line of following your passion (like on Ranbir’s part initially) can be something you can take home from the film.
Overall you can watch it if you like Romantic movies, but don’t keep high expectations.
