Choose your Coffee.

I am more of a tea person. Coffee is very confusing drink for me. I am always lost when it comes to choosing a coffee. Don’t know which one to go for … and usually end up ordering something which doesn’t suit my taste buds. I have a lot and lot of friends who are coffee lovers and they usually have you know like a signature coffee, which they always and always order.

So I thought of educating myself a bit on this very popular drink. Now you may find the information at a lot of places, it’s my attempt to collect only the commonly known and popular coffees. So you are most welcome to any suggestions adding more to this small effort.

Americano:  An Americano, also known as a Caffe Americano or a Cafe Americano is a type of coffee created by adding hot water to espresso. The ratio maintained is 1:1.
Another variant of it is called Long Black. It is made by adding espresso to hot water thus breaking the cream. This coffee comes under the strong category and it doesn’t come under the bitter umbrella of coffees

Cappuccino : Cappuccino is usually equal parts espresso, steamed milk and frothed milk. This one is among one of the popular coffees in India. Though most coffee shops add more milk to make it large, but it kinda spoils the taste. It’s basically creamy and can be sweetened according to taste.

Espresso: Espresso is the strongest coffee of the lot that is easily available. It is a strong black coffee made by forcing steam through roasted coffee beans at high pressure in an espresso machine. If the coffee is rightly made the sugar when added to it should float on the froth before sinking to the bottom. This one is on the bitter side. This one is a signature coffee of a lot of people.

Caffé Latte: This coffee is again easily available and easy to make. It is a single shot of espresso and 3 quarters of milk usually foamed. This can be sweetened as per tastes. Doesn’t come under the bitter umbrella

Mochachino :  This one is my personal favorite. It’s the same as café latte with a shot of chocolate syrup. Usually one portion of milk is replaced with dark or sweet chocolate. Cocoa powder is also added in some cases.

Café Zorro : This one was introduced to me by a friend. It is available only in selected café shops. It is two shot espresso and one shot water. It is extremely strong and equally aromatic if rightly made.

Frappuccino : Frappuccino is the name and registered trademark of a Starbucks blended ice beverage and a bottled coffee beverage. It’s basically a form of cold coffee.

Irish Coffee: This drink is coffee combined with whisky and cream. I am not sure about the authenticity of the whisky used by the cafes around here. It is 2 parts Irish whisky, 4 parts coffee, 1 tbls sugar and whipped cream. This coffee is usually drank through the cream.

Decaf : It’s one of the popular term used in relation to coffee. I haven’t personally experienced what a “decaf” coffee is but apparently Decaffeination is the act of removing caffeine from coffee beans, cocoa, tea leaves and other caffeine-containing materials. That was what wiki told me. I don’t understand the point of drinking these beverages without caffeine. :P
